Welcome to "Big Sky Country" where the horizon seems to stretch endlessly in every direction, interrupted only by mountain ranges which rise up sharply from the golden plains. This area is the largest continuous stretch of wilderness in the lower 48 states. Flowers representing every color of the rainbow fill vast meadows with splendor, making you feel as if you are in a real life "Sound of Music." Find yourself surrounded by five majestic ranges of the Rocky Mountains. Although itineraries may vary depending on the time of year, the majority of hikes are in the Gallatin, Hyalite, and Bridger Ranges and the Spanish Peaks Wilderness.

Each area offers numerous trails to explore and all are chosen for their outstanding beauty and extraordinary landmarks. You will hike into a magical world of alpine tundra, 10,000 foot rugged peaks, deep forests, rolling grasslands and crystalline streams. On one hike you'll pass numerous cascading waterfalls before you come to a high alpine lake surrounded by sharp ridges and vertical headwalls--a spectacular sight! Still other trails wander through ethereal forests of tall, slender, lodge pole pines and high alpine meadows dotted with wildflowers. Midweek, for those who want a break from the trail, you can choose optional activities such as a leisurely horseback ride, golfing or a wet and wild raft trip down the Gallatin River. You will need a permit to enter Gallatin National Forest.
